We visited Strada in Hitchin at the beginning of December- just as the Christmas party season was kicking off. In some restaurants this may mean a loud atmosphere and slow service, not the case at Strada. We recieved impeccable service and the waiters were very friendly.

And now for the food… To start we shared the flat bread and antipasto, both very tasty and fresh! For mains we chose the Sea Bream and the Pork. Here we felt slightly let down. Both meals tasted fine and were well presented, but they didn’t blow similar dishes served elsewhere out of the water. In my opinion Strada does brilliant pasta and pizza dishes, they always use interesting flavours (the Rigatoni Speck is my favourite). Therefore we recommend you choose one of these from their exciting new menu!

Dessert bought some excitement back to our table, it is difficult to choose a particular favourite! For chocolate lovers such as myself, I fully recommend the bunet piemontese!

An enjoyable evening all in all, thank you very much Strada!!

The service was excellent and the food delicious.

I enjoyed the pork topped with parma ham following a very generous portion of antipasto and some pistachio ice cream for dessert.

All in all a fantastic evening

Had a great night out in the Hitchin Strada, Sun Street on 04th December 2012.

Went with my husband ( who does not eat garlic or tomatoes!!!!) and 2 friends.

Restaurant was very busy with a Christmas party and other people who had won the same competition. Staff were friendly, poliet and effcient. The restaurant had a Christmas tree up and looked warm and inviting.

Starters:
We shared 2 Antipastos and 2 Aglios.
Easily enough for four, served on a slate, great taste and presentation.

Mains:
Friend 1 : Risotto Zucca, The risotto was moist and had a great smell..
Friend 2 : Strozzapreti Pugliese, The pasta had a real kick to it.
Husband : Saltimbocca Maiale, The pork was great as had no garlic or tomatoes!!!!
Myself: Orata Al Forno, The fish was beautiful with a real zing.

Deserts:
Friend 1: Affogato, coffee shot a little bit strong.
Friend 2 and husband: Pannacotta, smooth and tasty.
Myself: Pistachio ice cream, could eat it all night long.

1 bottle of wine and a great night was had by all.

Myself and my sisters visited the restaurant to try the new menu. Between us we tried the schiacciatella aglio flatbread, olives and antipasto to start. The flatbread was nice and crisp and light, not too heavy to start the meal off as some bread can be. The olives came in a good size portion to share and the antipasto was a lovely mix of meats, cheese and bruschetta which was especially complemented by the variety of oils and balsamic vinegar on the table. There was easily enough for 2 to share as a light starter if you aren’t looking to have a heavy three course meal.

For a main course I tried the Saltimbocca Maiale, it was delicious, very generous on the mash. The flavour of the sage butter really complemented the pork.

One of my sisters tried the Quatro Stagioni pizza, she really enjoyed the mix of flavours and the variety that the four toppings gave the dish.
The other 2 in the party had the Risotto Zucca, both were impressed and said that the flavour of the pancetta really lifted the dish, their only criticism was that they would have liked a bit more pancetta with the dish, but portion size was good for a risotto which can often be too large.

For dessert there was a bit of a mix up and rather than providing us with the dishes which were on the tasting menu we were given the choice of deserts which were on the Christmas menu but were still just as delicious!! One of my Sisters couldn’t manage desert but 2 of us had the tiramisu which was really light and not too heavy after the previous 2 courses, but was full of flavour. My other sister had a Chocolate Fondant desert which was lovely, portion size meant it wasn’t too much as it had a lovely, rich, melting middle.

The restaurant itself was really accommodating, at the last minute somebody wanted to join our party which meant somebody eating off of the usual menu alongside our tasting, however the restaurant were happy to do this!
